Welcome

The Koshin-ha Chito-ryu Karate-do Association is dedicated to the study, preservation and further development of Chito-ryu karate-do, as founded by Dr. Tsuyoshi Chitose (1898-1984).

Dr. Chitose studied under a diverse group of renowned Okinawan masters of karate, whose teachings he blended, utilizing his unique background as a medical doctor to develop the sophisticated body mechanics and fighting techniques for which Chito-ryu is known.

Koshin-ha

The name Koshin-ha translates as: (Ko)=Old, (shin)=New, (ha)=Group or Family. The name Koshin-ha was chosen by a group of senior Chito-ryu practitioners in 2004. It describes our philosophy, which holds that we are a united group that has chosen to study the old ways to better understand the new. We have decided to study the methods as taught and passed on by our founder in order to realize the maximum potential inherent in his teaching and their implications for future development.
